Lately here on deviantART, I've been seeing something that is becoming a lot more common as the years go by.
To many, it seems extremely unimportant while to others, it could possibly mean the difference between continuing to enhance their skills or quit art all together.
"Stealing" is a word that is often thrown around a lot to the people who do this. These users, who have likely not read and fully understood deviantART's terms of agreement, take other users' artwork and post them on their own accounts or steal their character designs. It takes the fun out of making the stuff that we do and makes us, as artists, feel extremely... well, used. Like our artwork doesn't matter.
A lot of us aren't like professionals. We don't get paid for what we do. Our sole gratification for even making the stuff we do is our favorites and comments. Nothing else. Some on this site get paid for it, but I sure as hell don't.
To take the artwork of someone else and post it on your account without permission while racking up the favorites and comments that technically the ARTIST earned is selfish and hurtful.
Even if you don't get the permission, the least you could do is let everyone know that the artwork isn't yours and where to send their favorites to.
But permission is essential. It is against deviantART's rules to post artwork without the artist's permission as it deceives everyone.
So, please... If you're going to post something that isn't yours, please check to make sure you have permission and when you do, even if they say you don't have to, always ALWAYS give them the proper credit. And maybe even give a link to where the original picture is at. I think we owe it to the artists to show them a little respect.
Let's put an end to art thieves once and for all.
Sincerely,
JigokuTsuriana

Something Terrible
Something terrible happened here.
Right here; in this life-worn place.
In this very spot.
On this land beneath my feet.
I can feel it.
It resonates all around me.
It thrives in the air--
the wind whispers caveats in my ear.
It hums in my bones;
which sing out a funeral march proclaiming the destruction of an event long ago.
It lives in the sky;
whose pale blue face is stained with tears of angel's sorrow.
This place speaks without ever saying a word;
telling the story of a day of black skies and blazing fires.
A day where our courageous hearts were cornered like a young, timid fawn by two vast, black bird

Just for fun
(ENTER some announcer guy and a king to a large balcony overlooking a courtyard)
(Announcer) : "Behold! Your venerable ruler by right of overwhelming force!"
(Announcer leans in to whisper to a man draped in a ridiculously sized yet weirdly comfortable looking robe-thingy)
(A): "They're all yours, knock 'em dead"
(King guy) : "Ahh yes, marvellous"
(King guy does finger guns at announcer as he walks past, winking as an added measure)
(K): "So, I thought that as your king it would be a good gift to my people to seronade you with poems about just how much ass I kick, and remind you all just how lucky you are that I'm so f**king radical"

Poe Try
"Nevermore," quothe the Raven
Sitting o'er my writing desk.
Poetry to me is craven,
Writing it is torturesque.
E.A.P. contriv'ed quite morose
Of hearts and skulls and streets to Rue;
Prose and poetry somewhat verbose,
To problem psyches he held true.
Oft from the glass my glare return
As through the dark my homework taunts.
Ka-thump, ka-thump my heart doth yearn,
But dreams of day my weak mind haunts.
Twixt mind and pen there is a block,
So in the morn I'll just ad hoc.

Something I'm seeing way more often than I should. I'd like to do at least a little something about it, even if it's not much.
